We are the first Varicose Vein Clinic in Western Australia dedicated entirely to the treatment of venous disorders and provide a full range of treatments, surgical and non-surgical. We are not a sclerotherapy clinic. In addition we offer treatment for complications of sclerotherapy such as swelling, hyperpigmentation, ulcers, brown staining and flare ups of new veins.

For the first time in Western Australia varicose vein sufferers have a greater choice. Until now patients were limited to only two options; “stripping” or injections into the vein, called “sclerotherapy”. There is now a third option, cosmetic removal of veins called “ambulatory phlebectomy”.

Patients who were hesitant to have anything done about their varicose veins, especially after hearing frequent reports of the adverse effects of the above mentioned treatments, have now a very attractive, non invasive cosmetic alternative.

At our clinic In Perth WA, varicose veins are physically removed so they do not re-occur. This is unlike sclerotherapy treatment when 70% of veins are re-canalised (re-opened) and have to be injected again and again.

Sclerotherapy can have unfortunate side-effects causing in a proportion of cases superficial and sometimes deep vein thrombosis. Brownish discolouration may appear along the injected veins in some cases. It is my impression that repeated injections of sclerosant might stimulate the growth of new veins. I have seen many patients who claimed that after having multiple sclerotherapy treatments, actually finished to their greatest distress with more veins than originally.
